Lunch and Liver (The Organ)

by bhealthy on January 25, 2010

On break for all of 5 min from class, I heated up leftover pot roast which is even better for lunch the next day! I added some fresh local kale and the rest of a sweet potato and ate during Medical Nutrition Therapy Class.

Today was exciting because I don’t have to go to work tonight – which means a gym trip at my favorite time!

Body:
Gym !
4 mile run
Cool down on the elliptical and a relaxing time in the sauna after.

Mind:
Class All day is rough! I think it is hard to sit still in general but to sit & listen nonstop can be tough. Despite that, I did make progress such as discussing more thesis options with Vitamin D metabolism,  prepped for the undergraduate Metabolism course I am a had assisting on Thursday, and had a great lecture in Medical Nutrition Therapy on the LIVER! The liver is seriously a masterpiece of nutrition because it filters carbohydrates, protein, fat ( and cholesterols), vitamins, minerals, and alcohol. It stores, synthesizes, and filters out all of those things at an incredible rate. What an amazing organ.

Soul:
In the sauna I met this woman named Tousia, she is from Africa. We started a typical chatty conversation ( however typical can be for being in a sauna with only towels on), and she ended up giving me such wonderful advice. She said she saw great things for my life in my eyes ” I see this for you”, and she reminded me that I am “so very rich in your heart and brain, this richness will lead you to wonderful things”.
Normally I would think it was kind of , well, creepy. Somehow I just felt really relieved and almost had tears in my eyes. It was just so genuine and nice of her, and really uplifting for me.
