When one door closes…
When one door closes…
Another one opens! I am loving every song by Adele right now… especially Rolling in the Deep. The one lyric is, ” Throw your soul through every open door… Count your blessings to find what you look for.” I am a firm believer that everything does happen for some reason and that when a door closes, you have to throw yourself through what opens next.
On that note, I was going to post about house remodeling today but I just had several other things come up in my life. Someone backed into my car…Thankfully, I was not inside and no one was hurt. Among working long hours for various reasons both last week and this week, I had to carve out time somewhere to get my vehicle to an estimator, which of course are ONLY available 9-4pm Monday- Friday, figure out insurance claims, etc. The estimator said my Carol (The Corolla) was nondriveable ( the tire was crunched and something underneath the engine got knocked out of place), so now I am in a rental until Carol is fixed up and feelin better.

Hopefully, that will be ASAP but until then I am thinking peaceful thoughts…

In other news, memos regarding the Agriculture Appropriations Bill came out this week, reflecting decisions to cut “lower priority programs”, reduce spending and target funding where it is “needed most” in many areas. Among these programs are Child Nutrition Programs, which will receive 18.8 billion dollars 2012 which is 40 billion less than what was proposed they get (by the President).
My personal opinion is that whenever people seem to need it the most, it gets cut. The % of obesity in youth (and adults) has been astonishingly high. The U.S has never needed more priority placed on health (nutrition, wellness, obesity), education, and the economy. The bill continues to cut funds from last year in all of these areas, the areas we “need it most”. Agricultural Research was cut $354 million, Energy Conservation programs cut $100 million below last year, Economic Development (rural) was cut $338 million down from last year. Somethings in life just never seem to make sense. Sometimes I too need to sit in the “bee alone square”.
Sometimes, I need a long weekend! Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!
