Weekend and Working Out Wednesday

by bhealthy on July 27, 2011

I had one of the most amazing weekends! I was able to catch up with countless friends throughout my whole adventure. I met up with a good friend from way-back when (our freshmen year of college was 11 years ago!) and we caught up over lunch at one of her favorite places!

(That’s my cheesy, “I’m so happy” smile!)

She blogs as well but not food wise, her hubby is in the Marines and will arrive home from deployment on my birthday (hopefully)! I will link her blog here if she is up for having more readers but I wanted to check with her first. Since it was a Meditteranean joint, I had to grab the Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken. The feta, olives, banana peppers and pita bread were just what I was craving and the chicken was cooked perfectly!

I just wish we could have had a glass of wine too while we caught up! However, I soon got my glass of wine when I arrived to my home for the weekend, which was outside of the town I grew up in! We made some late night snackage to go with the wine, Brie on Toasted Baguette with marinated Kalamata Olives.
I happen to think it went perfectly with this…

I think any wine is enjoyable though if you are with good company and I was with the best of the best! The Alexander Valley is best known for their Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, so I already knew that I would enjoy this Sonoma Reserve from Clos Du Bois. It was rich but smooth too, a great balance of tannins, flavors, aromas and oak. One day I would love to be posting from Napa Valley my friends… one day! (2007 was apparently one of the best year’s for their grapes too).

I used to order the big Belgian waffles for breakfast from Denny’s with whip cream and strawberries (on the side) when I was a kid all the time. I’d add a little bit of everything one bite at a time and I don’t think I ever finished close to half of my order.

I finished all of this breakfast though!
My goodness, I haven’t had a waffle in a long time so that tasted amazing and brought back quite a few (fun & foodie) memories! I’d order everything on the side all the time actually and rarely cleaned my plate!!! Oh wow, I was a handful but look at where it’s gotten me now!
Speaking of where I’ve gotten to now, I’ve got more in store for you here at Being Healthier!  I’ve got the most amazing dinner I think I’ve had in a long time (if not ever!), Thrive in 30 posts, Cupcakes (!) and Product Reviews from NuNaturals!
I joined a local brewery’s running club, so I am pumped for that and more so pumped for my 5th run with them because I get a free beer!  I am going to start taking adult hip hop dance classes on Thursday evenings!  And, you are reading the blog of the newest Adjunct Professor at the college that I got my MS in Nutrition from! Exciting stuff in this world as always.  Here’s my wednesday working out recap:

Thursday:  Strength: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps and Elliptical for Cardio
Friday: Rest, Travel, Driving!
Saturday: Long walk with good company!
Sunday: Rest!
Monday: 5 mile run ~ 45 minutes
