Beer and Creme Brulee
How about Creme Brulee Beer? I’m a fan of trying new things, well just testing things out in general can be quite enjoyable. I’ve tried a couple breweries that were new-to-me so I thought I’d share the #1 tip I have learned for the best way to find out what you like in a beer …Try every single one a brewery offers!

Then stumble home…Okay, I’m only half kidding. If you had a pint of every variety I’m sure you would be sloshed! I like to try the sampler size or a “flight” where you can sample several if not all of the hoppy, malty, stouty brews a place offers. Natty Greene’s actually does not offer a “flight” but they offer $1.50 samples that are 6 oz. each. Our server brought us 8 different beers and placed them down on top of the menu at the corresponding description of the brew!

I enjoyed tasting but I have narrowed down my beer tastes quite a bit. I took a sip of each 8 but I would only order 1 or 2 in the future…(I’m more of a Wine and/or whiskey gal in general, so beer is a new exploration)

Natty Greene’s Wildflower Witbier is a classic Belgian-style white beer spiced with coriander, chamomile and sweet orange peel. It was light and refreshing but didn’t seem to pack enough punch for me. I wouldn’t mind sipping on one during a sweaty summer day but probably wouldn’t be my go-to.

As I mentioned, I’ve been exploring different beers. On that note, I’ve got to mention that I had the chance to travel to Southern Tier recently. Mostly interested in touring their facility, we quickly found out that they only offer 1 tour on Sunday and they limit the tour to 20 people. They also do not accept reservations SO you are basically S.O.L if you don’t get there as soon as they open. My personal opinion is that it is a horrible business practice but to each his own.

They’ve got a laundry list of great beers, with mouth-watering descriptions listed on their website. And, despite being shut out of the tour after traveling ALL they way from NC, I will still drink their beer on occasion. Fortunately, I’ve tasted their raspberry wheat, phinn & matt’s, and back-burner. Unfortunately, there weren’t many available for tasting during my visit. I was able to try the very interesting imperial, Creme Brulee stout and yes, it paired perfectly with Pistachio Baklava from the Baklava Company!
The rich and creamy vanilla notes with caramelized sugars and malty flavor stout cut the buttery, nutty treasure simultaneously. The Creme Brulee is seasonal so it is quickly fading from shelves as Fall begins to pave way for Pumpking. Yes, Pumpking is one of Southern Tier’s fall brews that I also had a chance to taste. I was shocked when I found it not as as sweet as the Creme Brulee, finishing with quite a bit of spicy attitude.
My spicy attitude.

I’d be willing to try it again if I had the chance…. Here you try some….

Like it? In my opinion, the Creme Brulee topped the Pumpking but maybe that is just because Creme Brulee has been on my mind since devouring the Creme Brulee Cheesecake at Firebirds!

The fresh berries and sauce were a fantastic compliment. This was shared, thankfully (sharing dessert is a weight management thumbs-up). Speaking of weight management, I’m off to pack my brain and the brains of others with wildly entertaining research.
Have you tried interesting beers before ?
Are you a fan of sharing desserts ?
How was your weekend?
