Tastemaker: Classico Alfredo

As part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program, I received Classico® Light Creamy Alfredo Pasta Sauce to try and review.dscn2622

The packing confetti kind of looked like ribbons of pasta, very fitting. I was looking forward to trying Classico Light Creamy Alfredo Pasta Sauce because it has 50% less fat and 45% fewer calories than the leading brands of Alfredo sauces, claiming to retain the rich and creamy taste of regular. It might be my investigative nature but at 60 calories per 1/4 cup serving and ingredients such as cream, Parmesan cheese and butter – I figured I must give it a go. I decided to add some mushrooms and test it with gluten free spirals. It was warm, comforting, and went perfect with a glass of cab.

The alfredo really was true to the claim. It is delicious, cheesy and creamy with a little “ziinngggg” to it! One negative is that I didn’t stop at 1 serving of 1/4 cup – I added more like a 1/2 cup of this sauce, doubling the calories, but it was just so yummy!

Thanks to the Foodbuzz Team + Classico!

Happy Thirsty Thursday

What is your favorite drink to pair with a creamy pasta dish?

I could go with either a really dark red wine (if served with green vegetables) OR a Guiness if served alone or with bread and butter….

If it’s yummy, it’s worth just a bit more to eat!

I LOVE alfredo sauce! I don’t order it since I know how unhealthy it is. :(
I will have to keep my eye out for this kind!
Wine always pairs well with pasta!  Although when it’s just me cooking, I do water.
