Enroll Yourself With An Appropriate AARP Dental Plan And Enjoy The Benefits

There are a few types of dental coverage offered by AARP which is quite good to maintain a great dental health. The low cost of dental insurance makes it affordable for families and individuals to go for dental check-ups. Thus, people start to enjoy the benefits right when they join the program. Dental insurance lets you enjoy a treatment for any kind of gum and tooth problem, however major it is, like a root canal, crown, etc.

Types of Dental Plans

Dental PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) Plans

This plan allows you to search for AARP dentists and enjoy their services at a low cost than you would generally pay. These plans are a balance between dentist choice and lower costs. PPO dentists participating in the network plan accept contracted fees as remuneration in full for those people with the PPO plan, rather than charging their usual fees. When you see a PPO dentist, you just pay the amount for coinsurance and the rest would be paid by the plan. The coinsurance amount would vary depending on the coverage and services taken like major services, diagnostic, preventive, etc.

Prepaid Dental Plans

This plan falls under the category of dental HMO plans. It allows you to search for AARP dentists or dental clinic to take care of your oral health requirements. If you need a consultation with a specialist, your primary dentist will refer you to him. This would require preauthorization though. DHMO type plans generally do not have any maximum or deductibles. Once you receive the service, you need to pay a fixed amount termed as a copayment for the treatment. Thus, you do not actually pay anything for the services. However, if you visit a dentist who practices outside of the network, you would need to pay the entire bill.

Discount Plans

This is the kind of plan that does not provide you with insurance but lets you enjoy dental services at a discounted price. You would need to pay a monthly or annual charge and visit any participating dentist. There is no deductibles, annual limits or deductibles, but you must take consultation and treatment from a participating dentist to receive the discount.
