Drugs such as decongestants and over the counter medicines can reduce the symptoms of nasal congestion. some of the drugs like Naphazoline(Privine), oxymetazoline (Afrin, Dristan, Duramist), or phenylephrine (Neo-Synephrine, Sinex, Rhinall) can help in relieving the nasal congestion. Some pills such as phenylephrine (Lusonal, Sudafed PE, Sudogest PE, and others) and pseudoephedrine (Sudafed, Sudogest) are also good for nasal congestion.

Nasal congestion can cause discomfort to the kids. But the above-prescribed medicines and drugs should not be given to kids under the age of 4. It is better to treat the nasal congestion through some home remedies and over the counter medication. It usually gets under control with these and when the severity increases without getting under control, it is better to consult a doctor.

The nasal congestion is common during spring and winter as some people may be allergic to pollen which is widespread in spring and the cold temperatures may not suit some people. It is advised to keep away from allergens and cold weather for those who suffer from nasal congestion due to these reasons.
