Philosophies
I hold a Master of Science in Nutrition. Needless to say, nutrition is my passion and we all eat to get the nutrition we need. Here is my eating philosophy to live a healthier, well-balanced life:
Eating Philosophy:
- Eat what you want!
Answer one simple question before your meal: “What am I really hungry for right now”. Maybe it is that piece of chocolate cake but as long as it is what you really want, chances are you will walk away satisfied. When you walk away satisfied, you don’t walk away wishing you “could have” that dessert or glass of wine or feeling like you are depriving yourself. - Try to eat what you need!
Not everyone loves fruits and vegetables but we need them. Most of us know that. Try to add more in when you can, it is really easy if you get creative. - Enjoy what you put into your mouth!
Take time to savor what you are eating and most likely you are not going to stuff yourself to over-full. I cannot tell you how many times I have felt like I was required to eat something, to make someone else feel better, to please. Eating is social so enjoy the occasions but eat what you enjoy not just to please other people.
Professional Philosophy:
- Be alert and current with nutrition research, food production, diet trends, family systems and disease prevention
- In the field of nutrition professionals, we must practice what we preach because we are connecting with others that may not have the same passion as we do.
- Be it carrots or carrot cake, hugs and laughter, yoga or aerobics, wine or water, nourishing yourself in the most appropriate way is crucial to staying healthy for life.
- It is my passion to explore nutrients, food, and cooking but to always keep these in the context of an individual’s overall goals.
