The foremost natural remedy for heartburn is to wear loose clothing. Usually, a torso cloth with a tight fit may bind the stomach. So, the first thing a person with a heartache needs to realize is if he is wearing tight clothes. If that is the case, he must change into loose clothes. Also, one must loosen the belt if it is tight. Another remedy to reduce heartburn is to stand up. If a person is sitting or lying down, he must immediately stand up. This action is sure to reduce heartburn to a great level. Also, stand straight, with your body stretched up and head towards the ceiling. In case a person is unable to get up, he must try elevating the upper body. Basically, one needs to raise their body from the waist up to get relief from heartburn. Some other easy remedies are drinking water by mixing it with baking soda, chewing gum and trying over the counter medicines.

There are also various options when it comes to over the top medicines for heartburn. Histamine antagonists and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are drugs which reduce the acid in the stomach. Nizatidine (Axid AR), Famotidine (Pepcid AC), Cimetidine (Tagamet HB), Ranitidine (Zantac 75) are some of the available brands of the same drugs. Antacids can be used too: they neutralize the acid in the stomach. Gaviscon, Gelusil, Maalox, Mylanta, Rolaids are the brands providing antacids. The above mentioned acid reducers and antacids can be used in combination in order to get better results. In case these medicines do not work, ask the doctor to prescribe stronger medicines to get relief from symptoms and all the unease.
