Fruits are an essential component of a healthy living lifestyle. There are many fruits that are high in fiber, which literally not just help in digestion, but also control blood sugar levels. Another plus point is that they are mostly low in kilojoules, which is good to lose weight.

So fruits that are consumed quickly and release a swift burst of energy are classified as high in GI foods. Whereas fruits that are slow digested provide a continued energy flow and they are categorized as low GI food.

It is important for people with diabetes to follow a diet with a regulated blood sugar level test at all times. Hence it is important to understand about fruits with GI value. Fruits with high glycemic are less recommended and not so safe choice to consume every day. On medium to high scale, GI fruits such as papaya, watermelon, sweet melon, apple juice, pineapple, and grapefruit are recommended to those who suffer from diabetes.

Another alternative way to enjoy fruits is by a combination of high GI fruits with low GI foods. This helps to maintain the blood sugar level to some extent. However, consulting with a dietician can give people a better idea of consuming fruits in a safe and sensible manner.
